A Problematic Food Supply

THE Food Crisis

An over dependence on cereal grains and insufficient crop yields for a rapidly growing population are the catalyst for the potential food scarcity crisis in Sub-Saharan Africa. Many complex and interconnected causes are responsible, but largely relate to deforestation, soil erosion, wetland degradation, desertification, and insect infestation (Pimentel 155).

Food Crisis

To feed those now starved and malnourished will call for a miracle of new labor organizations, systems of management, and networks of infrastructure for transportation. As it will soon become clear, there are many reasons for being pessimistic about the chances of any of this getting accomplished.
